It really doesn't mean anything.

Obama recently signed a defense bill that restricts transferring detainees out of military prisons in Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay. But he attached a signing statement to it. The signing statement says that he can override the limits in the law.

So, even though he signed it, it really doesn't mean a thing. He has pretty much said that it doesn't matter if it's the law of the land -- he is not bound by it and can do whatever he wants.

When are we going to stand up and defend our Constitution against a president who makes a mockery of it?

How do we stop him?

A grassroots movement akin to the Tea Party movement is a step -- show up in droves at our representatives and senators offices and demand they do something -- they're the only ones who have the power to stop him. Petitions and letters do little if any good (though original letters will accomplish more than just putting your signature on a petition) -- it takes a visible demonstration that there are thousands of people out here who don't like what's going on in Washington and won't take it anymore!

Social media is another step. Post about the things you see happening in the news. You'd be surprised at the number of people who have no clue what's going on in Washington, what's in the Constitution, or why protecting our Constitutional rights is so important. They may not read a newspaper, but they will read your blog or facebook page.

Know someone with strong Christian values and a good grasp of what the Founding Fathers intended? Encourage him to run for office. Put your money where your mouth is and offer financial support. Then, if he is elected, hold his feet to the fire and make him stick to his principles in his votes.

And the biggest step of all? PRAY! "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Our nation has chosen a leader who reveres neither God nor man. We must take a stand and allow God to choose our next leader or change the heart of the one we have.
