Interesting Facts

Did you know that if you're out of work, you're more likely to tear things up? There has been a surge of vandalism recently in some California cities, and officials there say it is because the economy is bad and teenagers can't find work.

I guess I missed one of the links in this chain, but how does tearing up public property help one get a job? I've been poor, and I never thought about going out and destroying property. Could it just be that city officials have the chicken and the egg in the wrong positions? Could it be that these people aren't tearing things up because they can't find work, but that they can't find work because they're the type of people who tear things up?
