How did they get away with this?

Did you hear about the Nettleton, Mississippi, School District? The District has had a policy for 30 years regarding student elections.

Only white kids may run for some class offices one year, and only black kids may run the next. What brought the policy to an end was when a biracial student was told she could not run for class president because it was the year for a black student. The policy excluded biracial and hispanic students, because a student had to be either black or white to run.

Isn't it ironic that what was pc 30 years ago is racist today?
