I have a better idea.

There's a movement afoot to take guns away from domestic abusers. One person testifying is Sarah Engle. She was shot by her boyfriend. She says she is living proof of how important it is to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers. She says, "My ex had a history of being abusive and had active domestic restraining orders . . ." Perhaps if Sarah had gotten rid of the abuser at the first instance of abuse, he wouldn't have been around long enough to come after her with a gun -- or a knife -- or a baseball bat -- or his bare hands.

I've never been quite clear on this concept. If a man doesn't mind violating a restraining order and breaking the law to assault his spouse or girlfriend, why does anyone think he would mind breaking a law that says he can't have a gun?

I have a better idea -- let's increase and enforce the penalties for domestic abuse and put these animals in jail where they belong. I would think it would be a little difficult for them to get guns in jail, and certainly difficult for them to use them against their ex-wives/girlfriends.
